Cadore
Cadore is the historic cradle of the Belluno Dolomites, centred on Pieve di Cadore, birthplace of the painter Titian, as the area's cultural and symbolic hub. It's here, on Via Galghena, that the operating base for lessons and guided outings is set up, a convenient reference point for reaching the Tre Cime di Lavaredo, Lago di Misurina and the wide Lago di Centro Cadore basin in no time, all ringed by the Marmarole group and the Ampezzo Dolomites.
In winter the area offers family-friendly ski slopes and quick access to the larger Cortina and Auronzo resorts, plus a number of quieter ski touring routes; in summer, trails, via ferrata and mountain bike routes open up through forests, alpine lakes and historic mountain huts, across a territory that blends nature, art and the memory of the Great War.
Winter, Tre Cime & Ski Areas
From Pieve di Cadore it's a short reach to the Auronzo ski area and the slopes facing the Tre Cime di Lavaredo, with ski touring and snowshoeing among some of the most photographed views in the Dolomites. The central location also makes it easy to head over to Cortina or Sappada for a day on bigger ski terrain, while still having a quiet base to return to each evening.
Lago di Misurina, often frozen over in winter and ringed by conifers, and the area's small villages offer a quieter pace, ideal for riders looking for calmer slopes, walks in the fresh snow and evenings by the fire in a mountain hut, away from the buzz of the bigger ski centres.
Summer, Lakes & Trails
In summer Lago di Centro Cadore and Lago di Misurina become the starting point for scenic rides and lakeside walks, with the Marmarole and Tre Cime as a backdrop at every turn. The turquoise waters of Centro Cadore, fed by the Piave, also make a perfect stop for a refreshing break on longer tours.
Trails, via ferrata and forest roads connect Pieve di Cadore to Auronzo and Misurina, perfect for guided mountain bike tours through history, art and nature. Along the way you'll pass historic mountain huts, traces of the Great War, and views over the Ampezzo Dolomites that turn every outing into a small journey through Cadore's mountain culture.
